1992 Guild Artist Award Sunburst Acoustic Guitar for Sale
In 1956 Guild made an acoustic archtop guitar called Johnny Smith but in 1961 the name was changed to Artist Award. Built in the Westerly, Rhode Island, USA Plant, prior to the companies acquisition by the Fender Corporation. This is the Top of the Line Guild "Flagship" Guitar in beautiful, almost unplayed, Mint Condition. Designed with Jazz in mind, it features a 17" hand carved Solid Arched Top and Back. And the wood. Let's just say that Guild used nothing but the best where it counted. The Top being of Top Grade Spruce, with the Back, Sides and Neck, made of Highly "Flamed" Canadian Rock Maple. Finished in a nice thin Nitro Cellulose Lacquer, It features a Multiple Bound Body, F Holes, Neck and Headstock, with a Block Inlaid Ebony Fretboard and Tortoiseshell Pickguard, abalone and pearl inlay. This is one "Deluxe" Guitar in Factory Original Condition, with its original Case.
I have owned the guitar for 22 years, I'm the second owner and have kept it in dry storage so it is well preserved like new condition. This was the last year that Guild manufactured these guitars in Rhode Island.
