ANTIQUE RARE "SLIGH" FURNITURE BEDROOM SET for sale in Edmonds, Washington

$800

This gorgeous Sligh Furniture bedroom set is from the early 1900's. This set just sold at auction in New York for $13,000, the only difference was it had a full size bed (no queen or king size back in the day) instead of two twin beds. Sligh Furniture Company is from Grand Rapids, Michigan and is known for its extremely well built furniture. The set consists of two twin beds with curved footboards and very ornate hand carved trim. Trifold mirror attached to dressing table with drawers and skeleton key, dressing table sitting bench, nightstand table with drawer. Original paint, all solid wood, elegant hand carved rosette garland trim in excellent condition on all pieces of furniture. Shabby chic look now or could repaint. All drawers are tongue and groove, key is taped to inside of drawer (see picture). Both beds each have 2 matching side boards for the bed frame, they are in excellent condition just not pictured. Also I have a box of all the original wood caster wheels for each piece. French Provincial Italian Victorian style. Perfect set for a princess girls bedroom, or any girl who wants to take a walk back in time.
Charles Sligh Jr. was a personal friend of our families and I was told this bedroom set belonged in his family before my mom had it. She passed away 5 years ago at age 97.
1882 Sligh introduced matched bedroom suites. Sligh also made chiffoniers, wardrobes, dressers, and other bedroom occasional pieces in maple, curly birch, mahogany, and oak. Sligh bedroom suites were owned by presidents Rutherford B. Hayes and Benjamin Harrison. Sligh began making a line of case goods from Circassian walnut in 1900, and by 1908 the popular line had become a top seller.
By the mid-1920s Sligh billed itself as the "largest manufacturer of furniture exclusively for the bedroom in the world." From the 1910s through the mid-1920s it offered more than 80 different bedroom suites and 11 dining room suites, in a wide range of period revival styles including Sheraton, Louis XVI, Jacobean, Italian Renaissance, Austrian Baroque, and Dutch 17th Century. Several of the suites also featured an enameled or painted finish, with hand-painted decoration.
I would like to sell the complete bedroom set, but I have had requests to sell the bedroom set separately, so I will sell separately. Some wanted just the beds and nightstand, the others wanted just the mirrored vanity and rattan bench. I will separate the set if you would like. $800ea.for bedframes, $1000 for mirrored vanity and rattan bench, nightstand or $2500 for all
